The Jagged Tooth
The Jagged Tooth
Jagged-edged parchment lays compressed between two pieces of shark hide, bound together by a cord of the same grey hide.

My notes from the lesson on poisons with Devina:

(Note, some may not be able to replicate these items)

Poisons
1) Bitter root causes numbness of tongue and gums when chewed. When applied to lacerations, or other small wounds, it numbs the surrounding area. Better when applied in a paste.
2) Crimson blossom root: Causes bleeding when chewed, when boiled with bitter root, causes unstoppable bleeding. About a foot into the ground, nodules should be present. Cut them off and be cautious not to touch your mouth or open wounds before washing hands. Store separately in a leather pouch.
3)Plains weed; is sweet. It, when mixed with these other two ingredients, causes a euphoric response in the victim. Animals do not respond to any attack when using this poison first. Alone it is harmless, just simply sweet like wild berry. No adverse effects from trying a bit of the stalk. The off putting taste is why Bos won't eat it. The Plains Trolls seem to like it, though.

To cure:
The use of a Holy Ring will, obviously, stop all bleeding. The issue with this poison is that, unless you see the blood pouring out, you may not know you are poisoned.

Extra information concerning Illness in general:
The Dark Sickness: It is a common illness associated with the Dark Tendrils and the Darkness.
The effects on the victim: excruciating pain. It passes after three marcs, but few can stand the pain. There is no cure for the Dark sickness, save but time.

Conclusion to poisons is: Unless there is some outward symptom, the victim may not know they are poisoned. They may attribute it to a stomach ache, or merely a cold.

(This was our first lesson. I've removed some of her extra notes, rewritten them elsewhere, and changed words used. Beyond that, the only other thing changed is the removal of personal information. A side note, no poison of mine has touched a fellow adventurer. As for the Six, what is written is written.)

Loki.

Androgynous in appearance. Not so in heart.
Few measure up to his jovial nature, even less to the amount of care he bestows upon others.
The Shadows know him and they laugh with him, though he hears it not.
A friend to the Shark, a friend to all I have no doubt.
Warrior, taught by a Blade of Fire, determined to persevere.

Loki.

These past several marcs have been an interesting flow of information.

Friends benefit one another in some form or another, do they not?

This one, I am unaware of what purpose she brings, what benefit she poses.

It is enjoyable. I shall continue our game, even if it is not as open and obvious as before.

The test shall come soon, she must sense it. The Shadows must warn her.

"Nothing specific, just often here your name mentioned with fondness. Is there something I should be concerned about?"

If she only knew. I find it unlikely there are any that mention my name with a sense of fondness. I have the limited few I call friend, the many I call nothing, and the remainder that are not worth mentioning.

Valya Oxblood. I have seen her once or twice before, but we've never spoken. She took it upon herself to meet me.

"So nice to meet you, finally. I've heard quite a bit about you. You're rather famous, you know?"

Certainly someone has put her up to this as a joke. Perhaps a test?

She is kind enough, but how will it go when she is tested and tried as the others were?

The Shadows know.

The wooden beams Sigarni, and others, worked hard on developing and installing to secure the Westward door still lie strewn about the floor in the Throne Room.

The Royal Janitors, those so greatly equipped to clean up the body parts that lay across the realm of Valorn after an Adventurer uses a cannon for quick transport, cannot clean the Throne Room?

Perhaps the beams are left in hopes of tripping the endless hordes that wish to destroy the final seal and unleash whatever is within. While comical of a solution, I doubt it is correct.

I've yet to hear anything on my designs for the metal frame and door cover. Nearly two cycles have gone by since I spoke to Cody about the plans. Longer still since I trade an extremely rare drink and coin with Kade for the opportunity of a meal with the High Queen.

Patience.

The Shadows wait without fretting, so shall I.

"Your talents are well missed within our profession."

These words do not convince me. Are there not many that can open a door, a wooden box? Are there not many that can balance poison and metal?

"That teach..."

Ah. Teach. What use is a teacher if none come to him for training? Because I am a Cleric, I cannot teach the path of the Rogue? Did I suddenly lose my ability to mix poisons? Did my hands forget the touch and weight of a dagger? Do they no longer remember how to weave it through air, silent and deadly?

She tells me the profession lacks my skills, I disagree. It is not the profession that misses my skills, it is the people that do not want them.

I do not blame the populace. I was once a very wicked man. Many still see me as such, there is no changing their minds.

I teach those that are willing to listen, but I do not seek students any longer.

Threnody Nyx. Cenny Konxovar. Achelle Olytro.

These are the only ones I shall take to the temple, until there is another worthy of their skill and dedication to their craft (Even if two of the three have changed professions).

Shadows keep them.

There are few that see the good in the darkness. Of course, I do not mean the evil that refers to itself as the Darkness, but rather the Shadows that dance throughout time and across the lands.

I was asked to perform a bonding ceremony by two people that I never knew before a few turns ago. Shadows danced around the small gathering in the dead of the night, cast by the light of the Demon Eyes and stars above. For being the first ceremony I've ever conducted, it went well. Of course, I charged ten plat for each person there, only to give them the fifty plat plus four hundred and fifty more in return.

I have to keep up appearances, yes?

Shadows keep them.
